Our Beliefs

We Believe that there is one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. 1 Timothy 1:17; Deuteronomy 6:4; 1 Kings 8:27; 1 John 1:5; Genesis 1:1-2; Acts 17:24-25, 28; Psalm 90:1-2; Matthew 28:19; John 3:16; Isaiah 57:15; 2 Peter 3:9.

We believe in God, the Father, maker of heaven and earth. We believe that he concerns himself mercifully in the affairs of men, that he hears and answers prayer and that he saves from sin and death all who come to him through Jesus Christ. 1 Corinthians 8:6; Ephesians 4:6; Ezekiel 33:11; 2 Thessalonians 1:6-8; John 5:24; John 3:16-18.

We believe in Jesus Christ, God's only begotten Son, conceived by the Holy Spirit. We believe in His virgin birth, sinless life, miracles and teachings. We believe in His substitutionary atoning death, bodily resurrection, ascension into heaven, perpetual intercession for His people and personal visible return to earth. John 1:34; Hebrews 1:3; John 1:14-18; Romans 1:3-4; 1 John 3:16; 1 Peter 2:24; Hebrews 10:10-14; 1 Corinthians 15:20-21; 1 Timothy 2:5; John 14:6; 1 John 2:1-2.

We believe in the Holy Spirit, who with the Father and the Son calls the Church into being, empowers its witness, guides its mission and supplies the gifts needed by the Church and its members to exalt Christ. We believe that the Holy Spirit indwells every believer in Christ, and that He is an abiding helper, teacher and guide. John 14:16; 3:5-8; 14:17; Romans 5:5; 1 Corinthians 12:4-7; 2 Peter 1:20-21; John 16:7-11.

We believe that all men are sinners by nature and are, therefore, under condemnation. We believe that those who repent of their sins and trust in Jesus Christ as Savior are regenerated by the Holy Spirit. 1 John 3:4-5; Romans 3:23-25; Isaiah 59:2; 1 John 1:8-10; Romans 5:6-8; Romans 6:23; Hebrews 10:10-14; 1 Peter 1:3; John 3:16-18, 36; Ephesians 2:8-9; John 14:6; Matthew 25:41-46; Romans 5:10.

We believe that a Christian should live for the glory of God; that his conduct should be blameless before the world; that he should seek to realize for himself and others the full stature of maturity in Christ.

We believe in the personal and visible return of the Lord Jesus Christ to earth and the establishment of His kingdom. We believe in the resurrection of the body, the final judgment, eternal life for the righteous and endless suffering of the wicked.

We believe in the Church as a fellowship of believers, characterized by mutual participation in and sharing of the new life in Christ. Membership is by confession of personal faith in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord. It is open to all believers: Considerations of class or race, education or pedigree, wealth or prestige do not enter. What is required is that one be "born anew to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead" 1 Peter 1:3.

We believe in sovereign grace. In other words, we teach that God is sovereign not only in general, but especially in salvation 1 Cor. 1:26-31; Eph. 1:3-11 ; Rom. 8:28-32. Salvation is by grace alone plus nothing Eph. 2:8-10. A man is saved only when God gives him the willingness and the ability to repent and put his faith in Jesus Christ, the one who suffered the wrath of God in the place of sinners Phil. 1:6, 29, 30; 2 Tim. 2:24, 25.

We believe in the centrality of the local church in the Christian's life Matt. 18:15-20; 1 Tim. 3:15; Heb. 13:17. There are too many "Lone Ranger Christians" around today who think that it is sufficient to be a member of an invisible church. The problem with invisible churches is that they have invisible members and invisible officers. The help and the accountability they give is also invisible. We believe that Christians need each other and need a good local church to instruct, counsel, and, if need be, correct them.

We believe that the preaching and teaching of the Word should be central in the life of the local church. The Apostle Paul said the church is "the pillar and support of the truth" 1 Tim. 3:15. In the figurative language of Revelation 1:20 local churches are lampstands. In other words, they are essentially sources of light, the light of the Word of God. Many other things ought to be part of the local church: good fellowship for Christians, generous benevolence to the poor, missionary and evangelistic endeavors toward the lost, but it must never be forgotten that the fountain of all these things is the proclamation of the Word of God. Where Christ removes the lampstand the church ceases to exist, even if the shell of a social club, a charitable organization, or a mission program remains Rev. 2:5.

We believe the church should be a spiritual family which cares about the spiritual welfare of its members 1 Thes. 5:12-14; Phil. 2:1-5. Becoming a member of a local church is a covenant commitment to the Lord and to the members of a local church. It means willingness to be transparent, willingness to be humble, and willingness to undertake the obvious responsibilities of such a commitment Eph. 4:1-3, 25-32. Such a commitment ought not to be lightly undertaken or frivolously forsaken.

We believe that the policies, practices, and worship of the church should be ordered by the Word of God. The Word clearly says that the local church is "the house of God, the church of the living God" 1 Tim. 3:15. As such the will of God revealed in the Word of God must regulate church life. `Lord Pragmatism' (`what-will-work') and `Lord Tradition' (`the-way-we've-always-done-it') rule in many churches, not the Lord Jesus. Our modern generation of church-goers needs to be told that when these two `Lords' rule the church the result is condemned as "will-worship" Col. 2:23 by God's holy Word!

We believe the Scriptures, both Old and New Testaments, to be the inspired Word of God, without error in the original writings, the complete revelation of His will for the salvation of men and the Divine and final authority for Christian faith and life.

We believe the reality of freedom in Christ, who delivers us from the power of sin and moves us by His grace into a whole new experience of obedience and life. Such freedom "is to be distinguished from individualism that disregards the centrality of the Word of God and the mutual responsibilities and disciplines of the spiritual community."

We believe that God, our heavenly Father has called upon all Christians to spread His Word of Salvation throughout the World to the unsaved and to minister to the needs of His children.

We believe that the Church should not be lead by the teachings of religious denominations of the World, but should receive its teachings and be lead by God, our heavenly Father through His Word and guidance.

We believe that baptism of believers in obedience to Christ's command is a witness to the acceptance of Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord. We believe in baptism by immersion as a symbol of death to sin, a pledge to a new life in Him. Romans 6:3-4; Matthew 28:19-20; Acts 2:41; Colossians 2:12; Romans 6:11; Galatians 3:26-27

We believe that the Sabbath of the Bible, the seventh day of the week, (Saturday) is sacred time, a gift of God to all people, instituted at creation, affirmed in the Ten Commandments and reaffirmed in the teaching and example of Jesus and the apostles.

We believe that the gift of Sabbath rest is an experience of God's eternal presence with His people.

We believe that in obedience to God and in loving response to His grace in Christ, the Sabbath should be faithfully observed as a day of rest, worship, and celebration.

Genesis 2:2-3; Exodus 16:23-30; Exodus 20:8-11; Matthew 5:17-19; Mark 2:27-28; Luke 4:16; Acts 13:14, 42-44; 16:11-13; 17:2-3; 18:4-11; Ezekiel 20:19-20; Hebrews 4:9-10; John 14:15; Isaiah 58:13-14; Luke 23:56.

We believe that the Lord's Supper commemorates the suffering and death of our Redeemer until He comes, and is a symbol of union in Christ and a pledge of renewed allegiance to our risen Lord. Mark 14:22-25; Matthew 26:26-29; 1 Corinthians 10:16-17, 11:23-30.

We believe that Jesus Christ commissions us to proclaim the Gospel, to make disciples, to baptize and to teach observance of all that He has commanded. We are called to be witnesses for Christ throughout the world and in all human relationships. Matthew 24:14; Acts 1:8; Matthew 28:18-20; Mark 16:15-16; 2 Corinthians 4:1-2, 5-6; 1 Peter 3:15; 2 Corinthians 5:17-20; Ephesians 6:14-20.

We believe that we are a part of the one, holy, catholic and apostolic Church of Christ, in whose name we serve and bear witness, here and around the world.

And so I say to you, you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church, and the gates of the netherworld shall not prevail against it. I will give you the keys to the kingdom of heaven. Whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven; and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.  -- Matt 16:18-19  (NAB)
